Role, Team & Location

We are looking for a Strategic Buyer to join our international organization. This position will be based at our location in the Netherlands in Heerlen and reports directly to the Manager Operations.

As Strategic Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and aligning procurement activities across multiple Braden entities. This is a unique opportunity to help build and further develop the Strategic Procurement function, creating structure, transparency, and consistency across our international operations. Working closely with different departments, and Business Unit Directors, you will drive sourcing strategies that advance both operational excellence and long-term business objectives.

Operating within a project-driven technical environment in the power generation industry, you will have the opportunity to influence how procurement is organized, strengthen supplier relationships, and contribute to the future growth of the function as Braden continues to expand internationally.

 

Key Responsibilities

As Strategic Buyer, you will play a key role in building and further developing Strategic Procurement within Braden. You will have the opportunity to shape how we work with fabricators and suppliers across multiple international entities and help create a more structured, data-driven, and commercially focused procurement organization.

You will work closely with Operations, Business Unit functions and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective sourcing strategies. By creating visibility into supplier capabilities, capacities, and market opportunities, you will support better decision-making and help ensure our projects are executed and delivered successfully.

A significant part of your role will involve identifying and developing strong supplier partnerships. You will lead sourcing activities, evaluate supplier performance, negotiate commercial agreements, and continuously look for opportunities to improve cost efficiency, delivery reliability, and overall supplier value.

Because this is a developing role, you will have the freedom to contribute to the design of procurement processes, standards, working practices and building interfaces with key stakeholders. Together with key stakeholders, you will help establish a strategic procurement framework that supports Braden’s growth ambitions and creates consistency across our international operations.

What You Bring

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A technical background or a combination of technical education and commercial experience is considered a strong advantage.
  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, project management, or a comparable role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with commercial negotiations, supplier evaluation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience working in a multi-stakeholder and cross-functional environment.

  • Comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes and structures continue to develop.
  • Strong commercial mindset with excellent cost awareness.
  • Analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across functions, business units, and international locations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are considered an advantage.
